Frequently
Asked Questions

MEET OUR ADVISORS
Right Arrow White
Are you a fiduciary?

Yes, we are a fiduciary. Because Vistica Wealth Advisors is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), we are required to put the interests of our clients before our own when providing advice. In contrast, advisors who work for brokerage firms or insurance companies may not need to act in your best interest and may recommend solutions that are only “suitable”.

Are you registered with the SEC?

Yes, we are registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (CRD No. 147297).

How do we get paid?

Vistica Wealth Advisors provides fee-only financial planning and investment management services. We have several different fee options such as a tiered schedule based on assets under management, flat fee for certain services/agreements, as well as an hourly consulting rate for financial planning. The fee schedule or arrangement is agreed-upon on an individual basis prior to relationship engagement.

Do you have a minimum asset level?

We don’t have an asset minimum; we accept clients at all asset levels. We do have an annual fee minimum of $12,500 per year for our ongoing services, which can be paid from accounts we help you manage or through a bill pay service.

What are your qualifications?

Our advisors hold various designations and academic credentials. You can review our qualifications and experience on the Who We Are page.

How are my investments protected?

There are multiple layers of protection to safeguard investor assets. These layers of protection include (1) brokerage firms must meet minimum net capital requirements to reduce the likelihood of insolvency, (2) brokerage firms must keep customer securities and cash segregated from their own securities and cash (SEC Rule 15c3-3), and (3) brokerage firms are required to be members of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), which insures customer securities accounts up to $500,000.We primarily use Charles Schwab and Fidelity to establish and hold client investment accounts.  Here are links describing safeguards each takes:

What services do you provide?

We provide a comprehensive suite of services, all included in your annual planning fee. The services we provide are discussed here.

Do you provide a written Investment Plan?

Yes, we provide an agreed upon and written Investment Policy Statement and financial plan.  Your financial plan is a living document with which you have the ability to monitor it and make adjustments online through your Client Portal.  Each of our clients’ plans are personally crafted on their ability, willingness and need to take investment risk, financial intentions and goals, investment and income resources, tax and estate planning concerns, and socio-economic preferences. These documents are revisited at least annually to ensure all inputs and ongoing objectives remain relevant.

How will our relationship work?

When you engage Vistica Wealth Advisors, we become your consultant and partner to help you address ongoing tax, estate and financial planning concerns. Most clients meet with us anywhere from 2-4 times per year, however, we do not limit you to this or require this of you. We are happy to meet with you anytime and are just a phone call away for all of your financial planning needs as questions arise or to make adjustments to plans as life goes along.

Upon initiation of our engagement, we will provide you with a thorough, customized financial plan and investment policy statement. We provide you with easy viewing and 24/7 access to view a consolidated look at all of your investments, plans etc. through a client portal.  You’ll also of course be able to check investments directly at your custodian’s website.

How would you describe your investment strategy?

We are committed to an evidence-based investment methodology. Decades of peer-reviewed academic literature and research guides our recommendations. We will help you ignore the market’s uncontrollable elements and maximize those that can be managed – such as reducing costs and helping to improve after-tax investment results through proper asset location.  We manage investment risk with global diversification as the starting point and balance with the diversification policy with an allocation to high-quality fixed income and alternative investments for some. We manage the portfolio in accordance with the agreed upon Investment Policy Statement and Plan.

What custodian do you use for investment accounts?

We work with Charles Schwab and Fidelity. If your accounts are already at one of these two institutions, great! If not, we can help you with establishing accounts at Schwab or Fidelity and transfer your assets in-kind to accounts at the institution of your choosing.

Do you do financial planning?

Yes, financial planning is a major part of our day-to-day work for clients. Please find the comprehensive suite of services we provide here.

What if I wish to cease the relationship with Vistica Wealth Advisors?

We have a very high retention rate of our clients. If for any reason you wish to terminate the relationship with us, there is no fee or penalty to do so. You’ll simply remove our Limited Power of Attorney authority on your Charles Schwab or Fidelity accounts.  We will aid in the transfer of accounts and anything else you may need for a smooth transition.
